Default Impossible to have the key FOB replaced?

"We can't make key FOBS. They're irreplacable. Make sure you don't lose that one you have because otherwise you won't be able to open the trunk" (I have a convertible).

That's what the stealership tech said. I think he's full of #*&^. Is he?

it's not hard to get new key fobs at all. the hard part is the price cause they're expensive as hell.

i think it's several hundred. it's the progamming cost of the key fob that sucks. you lose one it costs a ton just for that small piece.

if you've ever been in a dealership near where they keep all the keys, you'll see a computer there as well where they can program key fobs, etc.

When I had an '00 GP GTP, my key FOB broke, and I was able to find a brand new one on ebay for $25

I believe so. Why would Forddo that?

When I installed my keyless pad, I had to reprogram all the fobs with the code that came with it.
You can also create your own code.

I bought 2 extra key fobs when I bought my car, I now have 4 total, you can program up to 6, I also installed this.

punch in a 5 digit code and your doors unlock, within 3 seconds push the 5/6 button and you trunk unlocks.

No it's not impossible to replace. They aren't even that expensive.

But since you've got a 2008, get a Ford Fusion key. Just have it cut and I'm pretty sure you can program it yourself. The directions are in the manual. Look on Ebay for an uncut key, I just bought one for about $50. The Fusion keys have the FOBs built into them.
