New S197 owner!
Hey guys!
I sold my 86 GT 347 about a week and a half ago and a couple days ago I bought an 05 Premium GT 5-Speed. Super clean and only has 38k on it.
The previous owner did a few entry level mods. Lowered, staggered Bullit wheels with NT555's Flowmaster axle back, AirRaid CAI and a BAMA tuner with three tunes(my favorite).
Still has stock gears, and shifter.
When I first looked at it, I checked the passenger side carpet for any wetness but he only put 2k on it in two years. Probably never in the rain.
I know about the spark plugs, and even with the low mileage I plan on swapping them out soon. I got the car just in time to put it away for Wisconsin's winter, ha. Any tips on the spark plugs? I seen to use a torque wrench at 25lbs to remove.
Also, do you have to buy the $150 lifetime tunes from American Muscle/BAMA even if you have the same car the tuner is paired with but now the car is under new ownership?
Any other S197 secrets?

I sadly don't believe that the tune package transfers with the tuner. I believe it's still linked to the previous owners American muscle account but I'd ask AMDan. About it. Congrats on the new ride! You'll love it!

congrats on the new ride...
I'd do a search on the spark plugs. There are a lot of people that gave information of what they did to successfully replace them.....unfortunately, you'll also come across those that didn't have the same luck.
As far as the tune, definitely talk to AMDan and see what he says....there might be something he can do or offer.

Congrats and welcome to the S197 forum. I've never replaced the plugs in my '07 but I should since she's nearing 40k miles (not my DD) but when I do I plan on having the tool handy just in case. It's all detailed in the TSB on the plugs.
I also don't believe the tunes for life transfers to the next owner. But confirm that with AM.

Congrats on picking up your new '06 GT! If the previous owner was only driving 2k miles every two years, it must be mint. Nice find!
We do require each customer to be enrolled into our Free Tunes for Life program individually. Unfortunately, the program does not transfer over to new owners because it's linked to the original buys account and car. I hope you understand!
What are your future plans for this beast? Do you have any pictures you could post up? I'd love to see it!
Also, when installing the new spark plugs, make sure you use a little anti-seize for each plug. This will make them uninstall with ease in the future!
