They'll open the hood more than that crappy prop rod (still can't believe Ford put those on these cars, even my 03 Sport Trac had hood struts. No excuse). I believe Mr. Bodykit has them in all factory painted colors too.

I love my roush hood struts opens the hood way more then the sh*tty prop rod (agree with Whosniffedme duno why struts weren't used from factory) and the best part not sure if all struts are this way but the roush struts require no alignment of the hood with install it self aligns.

My hood opens a good 8 inches higher with hood struts than it did with the prop. HUGE help when I'm doing any work that requires removing the supercharger.

Hood struts push the hood open the entire way. Quit debating buying them. It is the best upgrade you can buy if you plan on spending any time at all under the hood or showing your car. I refused to open my hood at shows for any length of time for fear of some little kid knocking the stock prop loose and the hood crashing down on them. That alone makes it worth every penny to avoid a potential lawsuit.

40 minutes later...
Still 4" less than full, but more than the prop rod. I'm happy
Got a good deal on AM, Cyber Monday.

I put a set on last time I was at Brenspeed.
They just happened to have a spare set, MRT carbon fiber and they had them sitting out.

I asked about them and how useful they were.
The guys there knew I had back problems and said they might help with lifting the hood, so I figured what the hell...and had them to toss them on while doing other work.

Boy were they right!
Took ALL the effort outta lifting the hood and stress off my back.

The hood opens A TON more than it used to,
The rod isn't in the way while working, and it just looks SO much better.

I've never been one for modding every single little thing so these were far from on my list.
I now wish id done this particular little mod though a LONG time ago.
