Default 2007 mustang front end noise

just bought a 2007 mustang v6 with 107k miles. The front end makes more noise than i think it should. The tires are also worn more on the inside than the outside. My first thought was wheel bearings so I jacked the car up and shook the wheel and tire assembly but nothing jumped out at me. Tie rod ends? But what about the noise? Any thoughts and experience is appreciated.

If it makes a popping noise it's probably the strut mounts, but before you start replacing parts check that all bolts and nuts are properly tightened.

Thanks flash xx. The front does make a popping noise while going over bumps and there is tire noise over 30 mph. (howling). Do you think tire noise could be created by bad strut mounts? Sounds like 05 to current have problems with strut mounts?

Howling? No, that sounds like either bearings, tires or maybe brakes. As for the strut mounts, yes they suck. Ford used some plastic piece of crap for those. I got rid of mine and replaced them with camber plates. Some people have also had problems with the top strut nuts being loose, so check that.

There's a TSB for front end clunk for the earlier S197's. I believe it included the '07's.

It's your strut mounts, I have the same problem. Start saving up for caster camber plates because that's the only solution. I've already rebuild both strut mounts and it will just happen again.

I too have a 07 That was making noise every time I went over a bump, kinda sounded like loose front disc pads, . I replaces the tierods and ends, they needed replacing but they were not the reason for the loud noise. I read on here about the Strut mounts, so I pulled out the struts, and replaced only the struts, while I was doing this I saw the problem!!! it was a loose bolt on the SWAY BAR. hard to see as it sits behind the strut over the lower control arm. it tore up the threads a bit so I added a couple washers and it is quiet now. Good luck on your Pony!

I can't stand the clunking on my 2007 GT/CS with 30,000 miles. The dealership told me the entire front suspension had to be replaced. With such low milage? Told them forget it and let me investigate. So now, my dear gear heads, in english, what should I do?

You may have The Thunk

https://mustangforums.com/forum/2005...ing-noise.html

My 07 started thunking soon after I bought it in 12/06.
Finally got it fixed in summer of 07.
Dealer replaced upper strut mounts and struts (1 strut was leaking)
I added the Che K brace ( no brace on 07 coupe )
No thunking since then.
Good luck

Oh yeah, mine has been doing that for a few years. I opted to just leave it as is. A mechanic told me it would not hurt the car.

Now, if any suspension components need to be replaced I am going to get caster camber plates and the FFRP handling pack. I want it lower and tighter before I do anything else.
