Wtf? Who says it has anything to do with aftermarket? Could be corrosion in a stock component.. Point is we are trying to figure it out and obviously the OP hasn't. Good news fellas, this one's SOLVED.

Turns out it was corrosion, but it wasn't on the surface. I went ahead and started to take apart the positive terminal, everything looked decent until I tightened it back down and it literally fell apart screwing in the starter wire. I guess sometimes you get lucky.
