Default Rough Idle, Temp Gauge goes up

Hello everyone,

2006 GT Conv. 97,000 miles

Monday went to the movies...running fine. Came out, started up, engine cut off, started back up, it would ALMOST cut off for a second, then start running fine again, BUT, when it would almost cut off, the temp gauge would start moving over to HOT, then move back, when it got back to where is was, the engine would ALMOST cut off again, temp gauge move to hot, and when the temp gauge moved back to where it was, it wouls almost cutoff again.
Stalled out a few minutes later making a U-Turn. Started back up and ran fine 60 mile drive home.

Tuesday ran fine 12 miles to work and 12 miles home.

Wednesday ran fine 12 miles to work, after work did the same almost cutting off. When it get up past 35 -40 MPH, runs fine, but when ever stopping at stop sign, or slowing down for a curve, would start all over again. Got home, kept doing it in the driveway. Shut it off for a few hours, restart, same thing.

This morning, started up, ALMOST cut off 1 time, and has run fine since

Sorry this was so long, but i tried to get everythiong in. All stock, no Mods or repairs since a new Alt and battery last October. Fuel filter was changed at the same time.

Any Ideas????

Radiator maybe? A friend of mine had a ford probe and that exact same problem and ended up needing a new radiator, however he put it off and the engine blew. If your car is overheating like that, I would suggest getting it checked ASAP. Hope to hear what the problem is soon!

Its not overheating at all, there is a problem with the temp gauge or the wiring or something....but definatley not overheating or running hotter than usual.

Ah, I'm sorry I misread it then. I'd guess something with the wiring then. I've personally never heard of anyone having any problems with the temp gauge/wiring, especially with newish cars.
