Default 06 GT Manual Clunky Front Suspension

So, where I am the temperature has been as high at 60 and as low as -5 in the past few days. As such, there are some gnarly potholes.

I haven't hit any - or at least and significant ones, but I'm having a problem.

Lately my steering wheel has been shaking pretty bad at 65+

But last night my front suspension started clunking pretty loud when going over bumps at slower than 55mph. However, the steering wheel shake has stopped almost entirely. I find it strange that it happened so suddenly - I didn't hit ANY mid-large bumps yesterday. The noise almost sounds like the car is bottoming out - but there is nothing hanging down low. The car is lowered in Eibach springs and has pretty stiff suspension

I read something about loose front sway bars, but I wanted to check here before getting the car up on jacks and fishing around with a wrench.

Thanks guys!

Check for the loose sway bar mounts, in particular the end links. Also could be the strut mounts if they are stock, junk!

Strut mounts, Control arm (ball joints), and stabilizer links and sway bar bushings are all potential culprits.

With the shaking it will be more of a strut mount and ball joint issue. The thunking can be any combination of them, or all of them.

I have an 08 and just replaced the strut mounts (and struts since I have 55K on my car) with FRPP mounts and put in new 2010+ design Stabilizer links. 75% of the problem is gone. I still have some mild clunking on really big bumps and the dealer confirmed the ball joints are bad when they aligned by car. They also said the stabilizer bar bushings are bad.

I have the FRPP control arms that I just haven't gotten around to installing. I was going to do them when I installed the struts, mounts, and stabilizer links but I ran out of time since I also did the shocks and rear rotors (they were warped).

Your clunking is most likely the ball joints in the front LCAs as they are crap. I replaced mine with GT500 ones and all my noise is gone. Been quiet for two years now, so much better than sounding like a total POS over any bump in the road.
