Can I use this for power steering fluid?
 

Instead of ordering RP "power steering fluid", can I just pick up RP ATF fluid that is available locally? Correct me if I am wrong, but as far as I know our cars run ATF for power steering anyways, my power steering fluid definitely looks like it.

Also, is there a good guide on how to change the fluid? Every link I find just talks about turkey baster method. What is the lowest point of the power steering system and which hose could I disconnect to get the most fluid out?

The RP Max ATF should be fine.

I think there is a reason why you find so many links to the turkey baster method for changing fluid. If you disconnect the lines and don't get them reconnected properly, you can wind up in a whole bunch of hurt. The PS operates with a lot of pressure.

The high pressure lines have Teflon o-rings that need to be installed using a special Ford/Rotunda tool (see service manual). You might be better off doing the turkey baster method a couple of times to "dilute" any of the remaining old fluid.

I see, I am usually OCD when it comes to fluids, and try to get the most out, but it appears I may be better off doing the turkey baster then. Are there any additives that I should throw in the system while I am at it? The car has 150k miles.

Not IMO.

No, no additives or extra stuff to throw in the PS system. At the most you CAN put a filter inline on the return side power steering hose. Most OEM Service manuals recommend putting a filter in-line anytime the P/S system is cracked open. This is to filter out any crap that got loosened when you opened the system.

Napa sells them for about $20 bucks. I put one on my daughter's Escape when I replaced the Pump and replaced the pressure and reservoir lines.
