The local shop here quoted me 300 installed but recommended I get new engine mounts. He said with how close they are to the stock ones they will put a lot of heat on them. Ive done everything my self to my car to this point but am getting really tired of beating my self up under the hood of these. It is rewarding but you have to weight it out.

Never heard THAT reason before...

Most people recommend getting aftermarket motor mounts because old worn out stockers allow too much engine movement and the headers could contact the steering shaft.

I didn't have that issue, lots of room around the steering shaft. I really didn't want the added vibration from poly motor mounts either.

No it won't put extra heat on them. Tell him to shhh and install them. But poly mounts are worth the $139

I have installed many headers on my past cars but heard allot of bad experiences with the S197's. I installed the tuned shorty headers and I had a guy install them. He charged me $400 to do the install. I do know one thing for a fact, the LT headers are MUCH easier to install then the short tube tuned headers. If I had gone with the shorty Ford Racing headers, they would have just about dropped right in. I wanted the tuned headers. Been working on all my own muscle cars for over 20 years. Getting under the car on jack stands gets old for things like this and I did not feel like spending 12 hours under the car.
