Best Gear Ratio 3.73 or 4.10
I have a 2006 Mustang GT Convertible with an automatic. It has 3.31 gears. It is my wife's daily driver ( 11 miles each way to and from work) and we just cruise the weekends. No drag strips, maybe an occasional red light stomp.
By the way, I have a tuner from a previous Mustang that is now unmarried and just updated the firmware so I will be getting the tune information to correct my speedo and get a tune from AM once it is complete.
I do not buy into the whole CAI "enhancement," I want to make my first mod the axle gears.
Deciding on the 3.73 or 4.10,,,, I do not want to replace the carrier either.
I am happy with the Ford racing kit from AM
Any feedback from those who have went from the stock automatic with 3.31 to a 3.73 or 4.10, would be greatly appreciated.

When cruising, you'll be turning about 2200 RPM at 70 MPH with the 3.73's and about 2500 RPM with the 4.10's. Right now with the 3.31's you should be just under 2000 RPM at 70 MPH. Tire OD will affect those numbers and I'm assuming you still have the 255/55/17's or whatever the OE tire size is/was. Your call.

Someone please insert the dead horse emoticon into this thread.
I want to address your not buying into the whole CAI enhancement comment. It's not so much the CAI itself as it is the tune that accompanies the CAI. There is a noticeable difference and given that you need a tuner to correct for gears, if you can find a second hand CAI on the cheap from CL or someplace else, why not? BTW the JLT big air with tune made a massive difference on my GT500. Youtube that if you're a non believer.

MPG is not a biggie to us, just want to make sure the wife doesn't smoke the tires at every light
I understand this has been asked, most threads related to the manual.
Called Ford today, $605 for labor to install,
I buy the parts
