2006 Mustang GT Shifting/transmission problem?
Hi I own a 2006 Mustang GT with a manual transmission. I replaced my transmission oil with an ATF, no fancy brand, less than a month ago. The car has around 113,000 miles on it and runs great other then shifting under certain circumstances. Anyways the car is really hard to put into second gear, especially at higher rpms. The gear hesitates to go in, and even after waiting for a second you really have to force the shifter into gear. Sometimes i just have to stop trying, put the shifter in neutral, reengage the clutch and try putting the shifter into sexond again. Nothing grinds or makes noise it just requires a lot more force and time then the other gears. I dont know if this means anything, but the car rarely allows mw to put the shifter into 2nd gear when the car is powered off. Also, 3rd and 4th gear hesitste on going into gear, not nearly as bad as 2nd, when at high rpms. Lastly, rever is extremely difficult to get into as well, you really have to force the shifter like 2nd gear.
Anyways just trying to figure out the best solution to this problem. New tranny? New clutch? I have no idea what to do.

I've heard this before. A few times actually. Do you have an aftermarket shifter? I'll see if I can find the link to the solution, cause I can't recall what it is.. However since you just changed your fluid last month "then" started seeing the problem I'm assuming it has something to do with it. Unless it was already an issue causing you to change it in the first place .

I have same car, same tranny (tho with only 27K miles); like most, the shifter, especially the 1-2 shift, has always been annoyingly notchy. I switched to Mobil1 ATF a couple of years ago and noted a small improvement in shifting.
So, not sure what is going on with yours. Sounds like clutch disengagement issue since it is balky in all gears, but the timing with the fluid change is troubling......

The problem has been happening well before I changed the oil I got new oil just to see if it would make a difference at all, and the problem still occurs. And yes if you could find the link id appreciate it. Thanks.

Maybe a bad syncro's?
I had a similar experience when shifting into 2nd gear. Over time, my slave cylinder/throw out bearing ended up going out and I could barely shift into any gear. I had to jam the shifter into every gear in order to get it to the shop. I replaced out the clutch, slave cylinder/throw out bearing and flywheel. Pretty much everything, except for the master cylinder. I am not sure if this is what your are experiencing or not, however I wanted to relay my experience. Good luck!

Bought our '08 GT 5 spd last year with near 22K miles, after awhile drained factory fill and replaced with Mobile 1 Synthetic ATF and maybe it was some better, but still not what I'ld call "good" .... so then this April I drained the near new low miles Mobile 1 and installed 3qts 7 ozs Dexron III / Mercon (now known as "Dex - Merc") which I had read was not quite as "slippery" thus enabling the synchronizers to grab that next gear and whoa it down.
Shifts better than ever now.

This sounds a lot like what I'm just now experiencing....think I'll try the fluid swap before I dig further. I didn't really even notice it was all that bad until a few weeks ago, and it's getting worse by the day now......at 156,000 miles, I would expect things to start needing attention.

I am also having issues with 06 auto transmission
When it's shifting between gear, is seems to jump RPMs quite at bit. It's got no mods and only has @ 57k miles on it. I already have an appointment with a transmission shop that I trust, but was hoping to get some info from other folks who have had similar issues. I have never had a trans fluid flush done, but planning to get one asap
