Default fuse box question combining fuse 12v sources

okay i need a 12v switched source for my head unit, i want it on when in ACC, the on position, cranking, and started. apparently no fuse provides this. i found acc on, on is on, started is on, but when cranking it turns my head unit off. then i found one that is on when on, cranking, and started. but not ACC key position. can i combine these 2 fuses so it will provide 12v in everything but off? as in just running a jumper kind of from a side of both fuses? i just dont want my radio to shut off when cranking!! both fuses are pretty petty, pass. air bag indicator and heated seats that i dont have.. thanks!

im guessing if i hooked both fuses together it would just give the one without (key:acc) power that didn't originally have it? which wouldn't be a problem. i just need a 12v switched source for my radio with accKey, on, cranking, and started. and i would try it but i don't wanna create some short circuit. if my op doesn't make sense i can draw a diagram

not sure why your going to all this trouble to bypass the switched wire in the radio harness.

and i went right to fuse 28 in the fuse box, this is the switched 12v in the harness. and it did not work. The reason might be in this thread i think http://www.carstereo.com/forum/showthread.cfm?tid=61601

Any mustang techies out there in car audio/electrical?

there hasn't been one since at least 2010MY. The radios now wake up via CANBus messages.

i found acc on, on is on, started is on, but when cranking it turns my head unit off.
this is normal behavior, even on the older factory head units which still had a hard-wired ACC line.

first I tried hooking those 2 together, what happened was the acc fed into the fuse without the ACC and everything was fine, except when i turned the key off, it would go to accessory (key) and still be started, then to turn the motor off i would have to turn the key to the off position when it normally goes off in ACC. so that was not good. So i checked every fuse again, and missed the one for delayed accessory lol and now it stays on till i open the door after the key is out. It is how the factory head unit was now. I just wish it didnt turn off when cranking, but i guess i can deal with it.

Other issue is the illumination wire. The best i could get was 12v to the illumination wire whenever the headlight switch is on, which is fine, but i like to leave it on auto, and when i leave it on auto, that wire i have the illumination wire hooked to is live regardless if the top light sensor turns the lights on or not. So in order for the illumination feature to work I have to operate the headlights manually. I couldnt find any wire in the headlight harness to supply 12v when the autolamp turns the headlights on, and no 12v when it picks up light. I guess I have to go to another harness for that to work.

I just want to get it to as factory as possible lol

that's how most cars with a hard-wired ACC line to the radio work. the OE radio in my Ranger did that, as does the Alpine 2-DIN I replaced it with. your starter needs hundreds of amps to crank the engine, so unneeded accessories get turned off until you release the key from CRANK.
