RE: puffs smoke after sitting couple days
Oh oh!
Check your exhaust pipes. Do you smell gasoline? That's what I had and it's been so long since I have seen my car! Maybe this week, but I'm not holding my breath. Valve probs meant that I needed a new engine. In the shop since Sept. 6!

Oh man...Yesterday when I cranked her up, very nice puffs of blue smoke out the tail pipes for a breif moment then it cleared up. If indeed its the motor, i'm gonna dread takin off the headers and puttin the manifolds back on ...

If it clears up I highly doubt it is a headgasket or something like that but just to be sure check the oil and see if it is khacki colored. If it is you blew the headgasket. Most likely though it is just condensation in the exhaust b/c it sat for a while.

Another guy here had a similar problem and all he did to cure it was install an oil seperator in his pcv line. I guess these engines can really suck a lot of oil up that line into the manifold and the result is that puff on starting you describe. I have one of the seperators on order so I cant give you my results yet, but if you can put one of these things on for a few bucks and cure the problem, it beats the hell out of the alternative!

I noticed mine did that too, but only one time, and it was after starting it after I had just pulled it foward 20 feet into the garage, so maybe it had something to do with that, but I'm not sure. I've checked for smoke coming out the back every time now, and never saw it again, so i'm just crossing my fingers.
