Default Dealership trying to scam people

So, if you saw my last thread, it's been a lot of **** with my car lately...

But anyway, I finally got my car fixed with a quality mechanic here in GA, and there was some bad wiring in the alternator causing the parasitic drain. It ended up being about $200. Not too bad, and the mechanics I worked with were cool. But I asked these guys to check out my tire rods, because a certain Ford Service Center (here in GA, I don't want to specify until I hear from you guys) told me that my tire rods (inner and outer) were bad and desperately needed to be replaced, to the tune of $700.

Well after I got my parasitic drain fixed, I asked the mechanic to look at my tire rod ends, and he told me both of them were completely fine, and that any decent mechanic would know that.

So this Ford Dealership was trying to scam me out of $700. I really can't believe it. And now honestly, it makes me think of all the other repairs I have done with them and whether they were legit or not.

Should I do anything about this? I'm a little pissed for my own sake, but I also want to put the word out so other people don't get F'd over by these guys. I told them I was on a tight budget and everything...I mean jeez.

yeah i am very skeptical with dealership, same **** happen to me here in CA. took my car for an oil change and the guy told me that they did an inspection and found that my eibach coilovers are leaking and that i need new shocks and struts and he gave me the estimate already. the funny part is me and a friend of mine(20 years of experience) just installed these coilovers about 2 weeks prior to getting my oil change and all of the sudden its leaking.

Yes, there is something you can do. Don't go to that Ford dealer any more.

I had a dealer tell me the battery wire/terminal thing was loose and he recommended replacement. The cost would have been less than 100 bucks but its something that I've never heard of before and I passed. Drove the thing for years afterwards with no issues.

I am pretty sure most dealerships make the most profit in the service dept. After pricing some work at a few, I just go to an independent mechanic and stay as far away from dealerships as possible.

service is what the dealership counts on, not vehicle sales.

Yeah . . . and when in doubt, kill the golden goose.
