Default A little project I started tonight...

So I started a little project tonight. Literally, a little project.

I found a 2013 Mustang GT model kit one day a couple weeks back while trolling through the Walmart toy aisles looking for Mustang collectables. I picked it up, and then ordered a 2013 Mustang Boss 302 kit to combine the two kits to look like my car, a 2014 GT.

Here is my car:

And here are the two kits I purchased:

I got started today by putting together one of the motors and painting it to match mine.

And then I masked off the windows that are already installed in the body of one kit.

And I hit it with paint to match my car.

So, I'm waiting on some plastic sheet and some modeling putty so that I can replicate the Roush front, side, and rear splitters. The front splitter is probably going to be a PITA to replicate!!!

Wow this is going to be cool! I feel guilty, havn't yet made a model of my car. Closest thing I've done was paint a Revell 70 Boss 429 Grabber Blue. The testors paint is actually pretty darn close to my car. I'm working on a 37 Ford Business Coupe Hot Rod right now. I just got back into doing models about 5 months ago, so hopefully this is my best one yet.

Well, I made a big oops this morning. Right before I left for work, I went outside and shot it with another coat of black in the dark, while not being able to see what I was doing. When I got back inside, I saw that I went a little too heavy and it caused a bunch of running. It looks like I'm going to have to wait for it to dry and sand it back down and paint it back up again. Bummer!

This evening I'll probably work on how to lower the thing the scale 1" up front and 2" out back.

I ended up buying another kit from Walmart so I could have a fresh body to work with and some spare parts. I didn't get a lot done yesterday because I was 3 hours late getting off work, but I did sand some mold lines on this new car body and I sanded off the Super Snake stripes. On the first attempt, the stripes actually showed through like ghost stripes. No good!

Not much progress. I've got primer on the body, and the chassis and interior primed and sprayed in black. Hopefully so I'll be able to start crafting the Roush splitter body kit for it!
