Its all in what your goals for the car are.
If you just want a mustang to cruise around in and dont have any plans to race the car on a consistent basis get the v6. Even then it can be turned into a really nice weekend warrior if you decide.
If you have plans to race the car as much as possible and are going for hp numbers get the v8.
I know I prefer my sixxers over my v8, but it could also be due to that the sn95 and new edge cars are much smaller compared to the s197.

Thanks for all the replies, folks. In the end, I'm more than likely going to jump for a V8 as it seems like right off the lot there will be a lot less work involved, and that's not to say I've anything against doing work to the car, either. If I'm going to be putting time and money into the vehicle, I'd want to put the time and money into upgrades to be above average, not to catch up to average, if that makes sense.
Then there's also the part where for whatever reason all the $7k V6's sold all at the same time this past weekend, and now it's a battle between $12,900 and $14,900. Of COURSE I'm logically going to spend the extra $2k :P
I've a ton of other questions! Naturally I'll create appropriately titled threads in appropriately titled sections, but I hope to see some familiar names!
Thanks again, everyone

If the price difference is that close then yes, grab the v8. As you will easily spend 2K on a rear end, brakes, and other small things before you really even think about increaseing performance on the v6.

If your a car guy get the v8
If it really makes no difference in performance to you get the 6er.
Sounds like you want the 8
Myself having a swapped car. Trust me and get the stock gt less problems more reliable and less headaches.
It all depends on the money situation my wife and I would love to get a 12 gt so I would look that direction
