I removed my sound tube yesterday with the cheap kit from Blowfish Racing.
Wow, what an improvement from the artificial engine sound inside.
I have Roush axlebacks so I can hear the car plenty but now I can actually talk to passengers, on the phone, and even use bluetooth voice.
For those of you who don't know what a sound tube is, it is a tube that is in the engine that routes engine sounds from the intake to the firewall. It makes it so you can hear your engine in the cabin for "sound effects."
Does the sound tube possibly change air temps inside the cabin by more than a few degrees? Ive never looked at mine to see how its set up.
no, it's not open to the intake. there's a diaphragm in the larger round chamber behind the strut tower which does two things:
1) prevents fuel vapors from passing into the cabin
2) acts as a low-pass filter to block nasty sounds like the "hiss" of a nearly closed throttle plate.
there are also some foam plugs in the tube on the non-engine side of the diaphragm to tune the sound a bit.
