Default Lots of questions! CAI, Ignition Coils, Plugs etc.

Hello guys, I just joined and have some questions. I have a 2005 Mustang GT with the 4.6L V8. So far all i've done is the Flowmaster Cat Back exhaust.

#1 - I want to install a CAI, I see there are many brands (eBay, K&N, SR, AirAid)
Which of them is the best bang for the buck? I am sure they are all basically the same but do some fit better or are better quality?

#2 - Will these coil packs work just fine? Any other recommendations for coils?

#3 - I am also going to replace the plugs with one piece plugs. What plugs (brand and part number) do these motors like best? And will work best with the above coil packs?

I see these have a tendency to snap, so I should: Gently break the plugs loose, then spray PB Blaster down in the spark plug well and let it soak for about an hour... then slowly work the plug back and forth each direction a few times and then remove plug normally. Correct? Any other tips about replacing the plugs?

#4 - I also want to install the Airaid Throttle Body spacer. Is this worth the money? Are there better ones out there?

Thanks guys! I know this is a long post.

I wish I could help you more but I'm a newbie but from my knowledge I tend to like K&N.
good luck. Hope someone will help you.

C&L air intake is tried and true and would recommend that one without issue. Good gains and probably can find a used one for cheap.

I would say stay away from the coil packs and spacer as they dont get you anything for the money you spend really

The plugs are tricky and you need to take your time. The method you mention should work fairly well. Some could still break though, its just a time consuming thing with patience required. As for what kind, as long as they are a 1 piece for our car you should be good to go with the setup you have

#1- any aftermarket CAI that requires a tune (JLT, Steeda, etc) will be a big improvement. JLT on local CL for 85$ with MAF, hell of a bargain if I needed a CAI.

#2- stay with stock coils, they are good up to 600+hp. aftermarkets are hit and miss and not needed.

#3- IMO stick with stock motorcraft sp-514, 515 plugs with nickel anti-seize on the snouts only. I had misfire issues with autolite HT1 and E3 plugs in my 05' GT. get the lisle 65600 tool for insurance in case one breaks on removal.

#4- send me $90 bucks and ill use that money a lot better. spacers are junk period. dont waste any money on them.

#5- find a tuner, sct/bama (sct makes bama tuners, just rebranded) you will need a tuner to take advantage of the CAI. invest in custom tunes, your choice from where. several on my local CL for $200. good luck
