Default Radio doesn't turn on

About two years ago the radio just stopped working. It had intermittent problems for a short while before it stopped working. Fuses were fine. The word Mustang and the temp worked fine.

Last week the battery died. I attempted to replace it with another I had only to realize the posts were opposite so I put the old battery back in and jumped it off. The radio came on and worked great. Then I replaced the battery with a new one and the radio is back off.

No button does anything but the temp works fine as well as saying Mustang as if radio were turned off.

Some radios have their own dedicated fuse on the back or in the wiring harness. Pull the head unit out and check for power.

Well, that's interesting. Sounds like a loose connection, which might have loosened up even more. Make sure you check your grounds, too.

OK, we need to be clear here. the display on the center stack is not part of the radio, it's a separate module (Front Display Interface Module, or FDIM.) The radio (the Audio Control Module, or ACM) is behind the center stack button panel, which is the Front Control Interface Module or FCIM. If the climate controls work fine that means the FCIM is probably OK. and the FDIM is displaying at least something intelligible, so I'd say the radio has a problem and needs to be repaired/replaced.

I would put the old battery back in again and see if the radio comes back after jumping again. If it does, I really don't know what to say, but I would say your radio is not the issue. Maybe the new battery isn't putting enough amps? I am not sure what one battery over another would cause.
