Default XM radio reception

Has anybody been able to get better xm radio reception? I have the factory antenna, and when I go under most anything, bridge, ect it cuts right out. I have it in 3 other cars and have zero problems with the same terrain. is there something I could do thats available. Antenna amplifier, ect? any help is appreciated.

gonna have to just deal with it. depending on where the satellite is in reference to where your at, it could be slightly stronger or weaker. I have troubles like this as well and just live with it. not sure where the xm satellite is in geosynchronous orbit but during this time of year the signal seems weaker for me here in tx. physical objects blocking signal is going to happen with any xm/Sirius radio. some radios may save 5 seconds or so of audio and buffer accordingly. antenna mounting location and what thickness steel and how much it has around it also plays a part in reception. good luck

All of my satellite radios have done that if I am under a bridge long enough. There is a short buffer, but one in particular that I go under daily I lose the buffer signal before I get out from under it. There are some areas around Detroit where there is some repeater that is picked up more like a terrestrial radio because I can hold the signal (and I had one radio that would tell me if I was on satellite or the repeater).

Really not all that different from AM radio that we grew up with. Buildings and underpasses blocked that signal too.

Ford is still using the old legacy Sirius band chipset. The Sirius satellites are in geosynchronous orbit but the signal coming from them is incredibly weak and depending on the position of the satellites reception can be spotty.

Everyone else has transitioned to the XM band. and the XM satellites are in geostationary orbit. Plus the XM system uses a more efficient codec so the sound quality is better.
