Doobs, octane is something that keeps fuel from burning. You can get more horsepower with a lower octane. You hear about all this high octane in big or stroked motors and they need it. With alot of stroke or tight combustion area just the piston compressing with no spark can fire the fuel. It's like a diesel engine, hence the term dieseling when you turn off the key on a big motor with low octane and it keeps running. The high octane stops that unwanted burn.

i knew some of this. thats why disels don't need spark plugs. just the way i used the term for increasing in performance was my fault.

I have read that because of the new computer, you will get about 5 more HP with premium. It will also keep your injectors cleaner. Doesn't cost me that much more per week.

where did you read this? if you could please post up where you did it would be interesting to read. i wouldn't think it would increase hp like rider said considering the tune.

i use 89, thinking maybe it has better detergents in it to help clean the inside of the fuel system,, am i wasting my 10 cents a gallon..probably!
