Default New To This Forum

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and I have a 2014 mustang GT premium with 8000 miles. Its premium with the track and navigation package. This has been my dream car for several years now and I'm so happy I found one with very low miles. I recently had a white 2008 v6. My v6 was an automatic and I figured for my GT I would get a manual. I'm still learning on this car but I'm already having a lot more fun. What mods do you think I should do to this car? I haven't done much and the next mod will probably be a suspension kit to lower it. I plan to do a lot of canyon carving in the future and want this car to be able to handle in corners. Below are pictures of my old car and now my new baby

The two things most Mustang owners seem to do first is lowering springs and mufflers so you are not alone! Springs help the looks, give a firmer ride and better handling without abusing the driver. I happen to like adjustable shocks and struts to complement the springs. I have Tokico adjustables on my "13 and had a set on my '07. Koni makes a great product as well. Allows you to tune for a smooth ride for wherever you live - given the roads and tighten the car down for a twisty road, autocross or track day. I used the GT500 strut mounts to allow the Tokico's to fit in the '13 as the strut attachment tenon is different from the '05 to '10 cars and Tokico only fits the earlier S197's

Shocks first. If not racing just get the Koni Str.t and save some money. Lower only if you want to for looks, but don't go overboard with the lowering. Anti roll bars help a lot too. I should have done them years ago!

If it's a manual tranny, definitely get an MGW shifter. I agree on the STR.T shocks & struts. If installing new struts, it's a good time to go with GT500 upper strut mounts. If you are going to upgrade tires, you can't do any better than Michelin Pilot Super Sports, a bit spendy, but worth every cent.

Welcome to the forum. Its nice to see another AZ Mustang enthusiast. I have been happy with my setup. I used the GT 500 mounts with the P springs.

Welcome. I have a '13 GT and you can see my mods below. The only thing I'd change is getting the Ford Racing Cobra Jet manifold instead of the Boss. I also just ordered 20" wheels/Tires from AM today so I'm swapping those out in a week or two.

Whatever you do it'll become an addiction!

Edit: The suspension mods I did helped cornering quite a bit.

Welcome aboard.

Plan on getting wider wheels and better tires unless that's already been done (with only ~4000 miles, sounds doubtful). No matter what you do to the suspension, it still comes down to your tires (with enough lateral support from the wheels) to actually get the job done. Something on the order of 255/45-18 on 18x9's or 275/40's on 18x9.5's. 265/40's on 18x9.5's if you don't mind a slightly shorter tire. Lots of ways to do worse than Michelin Pilot Super Sports.

For driving up to and including intermediate-level HPDE it isn't necessary to lower the car for performance reasons. Shocks/struts, front & rear stabilizer bars, and the sort of mild performance alignment you should be able to get with Steeda's HD strut mounts (which tolerate lowering better than the OE strut mounts) is really all you need (I have track day datalogs showing well over 1g cornering with little more than those suspension mods). Lowering for aesthetic preferences is fine, but with both hard cornering and street driving clearly in mind, I'll strongly recommend limiting any lowering to not much more than an inch.
