front brake swap ?
 

I want to put smaller rotors on the front of my GT 500 shelby so I can put a certain rim I am looking at was wondering what's involved ?

You'd have to swap to the regular GT 2-piston front calipers and rotors if you want to do that.

I can't believe you would give up the stopping power needed in an overpowered car just for looks.

You can drive down here and we can swap right in the garage, my rims will clear your brakes so I would be all set :cool: :icon_mrgreen:

see if you can't find the rims you like in at least the size your car was engineered for...good luck with your choice.

I doubt you will lose much, if any, stopping distance in a street scenario. You would, however, likely lose some pedal feel with the smaller front setup.

The biggest thing would be you could likely upset the brake biasing. You absolutely do not want a setup where your rear brakes will lock up before the front brakes do. It is a recipe for disastrous vehicle braking stability.

Bad idea on so many levels I don't even know where to begin. Just get a wheel that will fit the Brembos.

Mmmmm.. it's not so much the stopping distance is the fact that on such a powerful car, one mis-blip of the gas pedal without the proper stopping capacity will put you in a ditch or worse, cause an accident. Also, the ABS system is calibrated to his braking system so it's not just about swapping mechanical parts...

I agree with flash, swapping to a smaller system is just bad on so many levels including the bias you mention, it's not even worth considering....
