I'll check mine tomorrow morning and see if it has any gaps between the rings and the bushings. If I remember correctly the rings touched the bushings so no end play. Are you sure you got the right bushings? Maybe yours are narrower and that's why you get end play

Mine weren't torn. They were shrunk (6-7 years of AZ summers).

A wee bit of clunking but for me the clincher was that on wide sweeping right turns where I could stay on the gas (like freeway on ramps) or smooth right hand turns around town, my drivers side suspension would start bouncing a bit. You could only feel it in the steering wheel and you could almost disregard it as a road irregularity but it became more regular regardless of road conditions. It was like a Harmonic vibration type thing.

And, recalling the work, the passenger side wasn't torn but the drivers side had radial cracks from mounting bolts outward on the front mount bushing.

I pulled the old bushings and installed the new ones today. The old ones didnt seem bad... no rips, they were stiff but no stress cracks or anything. I wasnt expecting much from the new ones.

But it really did quiet the ride down big time. No more clunking! (for now....)
