Seals in the turbos themselves letting go and causing owners to have low boost, some have reported sand blasting sand in the turbo which i don't think is a common problem although it has happened

When mine did it with less than 10k miles on it, it was still under warranty so Ford took care of it. I asked the dealer what could be done for future Mustangs, he said the only way is to replace the hood with an after market one. Looks like Ford should make some hood replacements for all of us or at least give us a good deal!

It is the reaction between two dissimilar metals making contact. Aluminum hood in contact through the hinges and the hood latch.
I would believe that if the corrosion was in the area of dissimilar metals contact but generally the corrosion is under the front lip near a seam of some kind!!
I suspect the hood was not prepped and washed well enough in that area!!
