2010 Mustang Model comes stock(?) with 2011 engine?
so, my girlfriend has a 2010 mustang as stated in the title. instead of her taking it to the garage for an oil change, I offered to do it to save her the time and money. ran through the guide, bought the gm motorcraft preferred oil filter and it didn’t fit? went back, bought another thinking it was a glitch in a thread, tried again and no cigar. So I went to an O’Reily’s and they informed me about the 2010 has a 2011 motor ordeal, can anyone verify this for me?
I’ve searched online for hours and can’t find anything on it, but I was also hoping to know if there were any other parts on the car that the same situation pertains too?
thank you all for the help and advice before hand, It’s greatly appreciated.

Not the case. The 2010 has the 4.6l V8 or the 4.0L V6.
The2011 has a 5.0L V8 or 37l V6.
There could be a different thread on the oil filter, but not a 2011 engine without someone having done an engine swap.

thank you! I thought the same thing initially (being the employees told me wrong) but I guess you really never know when you’re buying a used car, dealerships can be real mf’r’s sometimes.

If the title of the car says 2010 though, it's a 2010 model (not like above). Pic of the engine will say for sure though.

DerfOO, This used to be a very common problem. It is entirely possible to have the wrong (listed) engine under the hood. I remember back in the day Chevy was caught putting Pontiac engines in their cars. You wanna talk about a big mess???
All suggestions are right. I would just go to the nearest Ford dealer and have them look under the hood. Let us know what the "Mystery" motor is.
