Advice for wiring an EL wire from fusebox

Hello community,

New user here, not quite sure where else to turn to for help, I'd be too embarrassed to bring this into a shop.
I recently purchased a legth of welted EL wire to run under the dashboard trim on my 2005 Mustang GT. I tested it with the batteries and it worked fine, but getting to work from the fusebox is turning out to be impossible.
I'm using a fuse extender to connect one lead of the EL wire to the fuse, and the other lead is anchored to a bolt on the body as a ground. I've tried a number of variations with the fuses in the extender, the orientation of said extender, which lead goes where, which socket I put it in, etc. Does anyone have any experience with wiring from the fusebox? I read somewhere that fuse 15 works when the ignition is on, so that is the one I am using. See pics.

Thanks for the help!
