Default Might buy a 12’ 5.0

found one I like. Do these really run low 13s ?? Cause it’s 400hp and my 01 GT was good for 14 flat...

anyway. Anything specific to look out for when buying?

Also so my other car option is a 2006 corvette base model manual trans. This stang is Automatic, has he auto tranny come a long way over the years or no? My 97 GT was a slush box.

ok its a 2012 not a 14, i must have been looking at another one

Default Might by a 14’ 5.0

SXGT, for a 2012 Coyote, very low 13s are not out of the question. Without not knowing if any mods are in the car, I am generalizing. But, with a OEM Coyote, and a good set of NITTO 05 slicks, 12.8 is within reason. Although I respect the Corvette, the 06 Corvette would need modifications to beat the Coyote. Of course, the new, high end Corvette is another story. The automatic tranny in the Coyotes, 6R80, are state of the art. Due to injuries while serving my country, I am confined to using automatics. Even my competition automaticas, back in the day, FX/B, C Altered, B Gas, etc., couldn't compare to these new, fly by wire, automatics. I change the ATF and Filter every 30,000 miles. Any high performance vehicle requires "preventive maintenance" on a regular schedule. Hope this helped.

I've ran several low 13's in my '12 manual coyote at 112-113 mph. That trap speed is good for a 12 second pass but I ran with all season tires. Low 13's are because of traction issues. The car will straight up annihilate a 14.0 car. My 99 has ran mid 13's at a best 102mph but trapped at 10mph less, so it won't be close to a coyote car on the street.

The 6R80 auto transmission is very good.

Some cars had the number 8 cylinder overheating but I don't know if that was just 2011 cars or some 2012's as well.

I put almost 40k on my car and its still running very well, like the day I bought it. It does have a 'tire pressure monitor fault' error message that happens randomly but I've seen a lot of other mustangs have this crap too.
