Default 2014 mustang battery drain

Hi all,

i own a 14 GT, first owner since November 2014. Ever since I’ve had it, after not driving for a few days it seems that it had a weak start, no matter how hot or cold it was. It has 27000 miles currently.

december of 2017 I had surgery and couldn’t drive. Battery died completely and couldn’t be recharged and it was swollen. Bought a new battery and was fine... until last month

in January had another surgery and couldn’t drive for a few weeks and my battery died, I decided to replace for free since still under warranty. This time I decided to find out where the drain is coming from.

In on my investigations trying to find parasitic draw, it seems it’s coming from the fuse for “Cluster (battery)”. Does this mean my instrument cluster is bad or needs to be replaced? Anyone with similar experience? Let me know please. I’ll include pics of what my meter says before and After removing the fuse.

on a side note, sometimes while driving, the traction control light and check engine will come on and the radio will go off for a second. Not sure If it’s related. Thanks!

Could be related. Check the smart junction box in the passenger side footwell for water contamination.

The fuse box in the passenger footwell is where I found out that the fuse for cluster was the culprit. No water leakage or anything like that down there at all.

That's good news but it just occurred to me that you might have a faulty alternator diode causing an AC ripple current. That could cause the electrical problems you've described.

Do you have a trickle charger you can hook it up to and see if it still dies? That might narrow down how much voltage is actually leaking.

Hi all,
I have similar problem: about 0.2 A after car lock and wait about 5 min (0.6 A immediately after lock). I know, that I should turn all fuses one by one and luck where is the problem , but maybe anyone knows where is weak point (electric) in this car?
Fmaule000 did you solve this issue?
Thanks!

Default Battery draining

I know it's been a while on this thread was anyway able to figure out the issue? I have what seems to be the same issue. I changed the battery and changed the alternator to be safe. I let the car sit for two days to see what would happen and sure enough, the battery drained down again. I recorded what was happening when the battery is low there is a clicking noise coming from the passenger fuse box, it could be a relay, but I am not sure. The system does not allow me to post videos. I also noticed that the halos on my headlights were flickering as the relay was clicking but the headlight switch is off. Please help

Replace the offending relay and see if that resolves the problem.
