Default Car running like garbage after storage.

Can old gas really screw up how the car runs? I did not have this issue last spring. I have not changed anything on the car over the winter, I did use Sta-bil in the tank. Just loss of power and really sluggish from a stop. Air intake and hoses connected. Idles fine.

Gas, especially with Ethanol becomes unstable in two weeks. Depending on how much
sta-bil you used, decreases the combustibility of gas. Once it all cycles out, you
should be fine. You may also have gotten the year that gummed up the fuel filter.

Fill it with 93 Octane fuel and cycle out the fuel that was stored.. It should be fine as
long as the fuel filer is not clogged up.

Thanks, I'll try that. I do not like driving a car that sounds so horrible, feel like I'm wrecking it. I unplugged the battery to reset the ecu. It seemed to drive ok for a little bit and then went back to running like crap. I always use 93 octane from Costco.

When you un-hook the battery, you have to go through the idle trim relearn procedure... If you
just start driving it right away, it's not set right, and you loose launch power... Has nothing to
so with your horrible running condition, but you hinder the cars performance not relearning
the idle trim values. You can look that up on google or yahoo, for the procedure..

Also, it could be the plugs, or plug wires. Make sure the plug wires are not cracked
and arcing to any metal in the engine compartment. Could be a coil firing issue...

Sure would be nice if something triggered a dummy light. I mean come on.

CEL is mostly for emissions related issues, and are the only conditions REQUIRED
to illuminate the CEL. My VW has all kinds of stupid codes, but since they're not
emissions related, the CEL doesn't illuminate. The CEL can come on for many
reasons, but by law, any emissions related issues HAVE to. The ECU is not
seeing any parameters out of bounds, so it continues to rumble on...
