Hey everyone, I was wondering if someone who has the factory 4 piston calipers on a 14ish, could measure the mount bolt hole spacing. Where the caliper mounts to the knuckle.

I’m trying to figure out a cheaper alternative for a brake swap on another ford.

The caliper does not mount to the knuckle, the carrier/bracket does. It's a separate
item, then the caliper mounts to that... Maybe you can mention what other FORD
you want to use, maybe it's been done, thus maybe someone can help better...

The vehicle in question is a 06 f150. The current caliper mount bolt spacing is 6”.

Aside from the typical brake kits available, there’s not much else available. Basically looking at upgrading the calipers, at a much cheaper price.

Upgrade, or do you want to use BIGGER pads and rotors? An upgrade could mean more pistons
in the caliper. If you want to go bigger, then you need the rotor, bracket, caliper, and pads...

You would have to cross-reference part numbers on the parts for compatibility. The calipers
may be the same, but the carriers aren't, as far as bolt spacing at the knuckle. The 2006
F150 and 06 Mustang GT may probably use the same Caliper, just not the mounting
bracket, or even might...

The S550 mustang front brakes fit on the S197s, you only need to put washers as spacers
between the bracket and knuckle, and change the brake lines to the caliper , so the spacing
for the bracket on the S197 knuckle is the same as the S550s... Car companies usually
keep the same spacing so they can use the same parts to save money. However, the
truck line may have their own spacing for all their trucks, so they can all use the same parts.

I went to 312MM brakes from 288MM on my VW. All I needed was the bracket and rotor...
VW uses the same caliper for the 288MM as they do the 312MM. The bracket is taller
to accommodate the larger rotor. There is more space between the rotor hat, and pad
surface on the 312MM rotor. So, they cheat a little...

5 7/8" center to center. caliper mounting brackets from my 05GT. there is a thread on here or another forum of someone wanting to use 13'/14' GT front brakes as they are slightly larger than the previous year stock GT front brakes I.E. rotor is slightly larger thus the caliper bracket has been modified. the caliper themselves are the same, 2 piston from 05'-14'. I just bolted up a set of Brembo brakes W/ the larger 14" rotors to my 05' GT. these are the same brakes that come on the 12'/13' Boss 302. long story short, ALL 05'-14' front brake caliper bracket mounting holes should be 5 7/8" OC. Only exception "might" be the 13'/14' Shelby cars that came with 15" front brakes with 6 pot Brembos. that said, the mounting points are still probably the same, the calipers are probably just cast to fit. good luck
