Default Shaker 500 Battery Drain - Workaround

Vehicle is a 2006 GT with Shaker 500.

My Shaker 500 started draining the car battery, even when the radio was off, ignition key off and vehicle off.

Replacing the Shaker 500, was never an option for me, I prefer OEM radios in my vehicles.

So for awhile, after a drive, I would simply pull fuse 56 (in BEC) to interrupt the Shaker 500 12vdc power source. This
solved my battery drain problem, but I soon realized a more permanent solution would be better.

I decided on using an automotive relay, to break/restore the Fuse 56 circuit. I use a switched 12vdc power
source (the passenger side ignition transformer capacitor) to activate the relay. Alternatively, you could use
an add a circuit in BEC Fuse positions 40 or 42 if you prefer. In a sense, the relay is pulling the fuse for me
when I shut the vehicle off and putting it back in, when I start the vehicle.

Relay Wiring:
I wired the switched 12vdc to pin 86.
I wired GROUND to pin 85.
Relay pins 87 and 30, are used to complete the Fuse 56 circuit.

The radio clock needs to be set each time you start the vehicle, but the station presets are still there.

Here are a few pics of the wiring. The wires will get dressed, I wanted to get some pictures while
everything could still be seen.

It could very well be one of the amps - located in the drivers side footwell panel. I had the same problem, eventually it started humming and loud pops when the car was started or shut off. there are two amps, one for each side of the car.
