I don't know anything of the alarm, but I've got an 06 with the shaker 500 and I really like it. I listen to all types of music and it does all I want. The 1000 was my only other choice and couldn't convince myself that the loss of trunk space was going to be OK because I'd have a lot less money to put back there. I'm used to my wife's VW Monsoon system and the 500 is better. My previous car (Saab) had Harmon Kardon and the 500 is better than this as well. It seems to be a well rounded system without being intrusive.

i wanted the 500 but got the 1000-- i am not a pro but i must say the 1000 does not dissapoint, to me it sounds incredible, i have had no problems, big bass and a warranty- same with the alarm-- i would just put a fuel kill switch in and that should settle your mind.. good luck

Well, I am still a soccer mom and I couldn't afford to have any sub woofers taking up valuable cargo space in my trunk so I went with the 500. It sounds good!!
