Default Saleen Supercharger

Just curious if anyone who has or has heard the Saleen S/C can comment on the sound of the Saleen Supercharger? ie blower noise.

After a while you barely notice any noise at all. For those that hear it for the first time you can tell there is a whine to it but even then its not as loud as the centifuge S/C's.

Thanks Greg,

Checked out your profile looks like you've done some good work to yours. I have some questions for you if you got the time.
How much are you getting to the rear wheel?

Is that the CDC duck tail? And how are the seams are you happy with it?

Also are you happy with the Roush louvers?

Your ride looks awesome from here boss. You have done alot of the things I have been planning. Its hard to make that first leap to make a change to the car you already love so much. Just thought I'd ask to see how you felt about your mods.

Thanks again

Yes its the CDC ducktail. I like the Roush louvers and the only real blind spot is the passenger side when backing up but you can use the mirror to help with that. Right now I have a conservative tune because of the stock fuel pump so I am around 460rwhp. Thanks for the compliments. Once you get that first mod then its hard to stop but its fun to see what you can create.

I went to a Dyno Day at one of our local race shops and there was a guy there with the Saleen s/c. He parked it next to mine and we compared idle sound and it was defintely quiter than mine. The vortech H/O puts at a definitive 'whine' that is clearly heard at idle that I couldn't really hear with Saleen's. Depends on what your looking for I guess. Both are good s/c's but REMEMBER: it's the other mods and tuning that will get high boost with whatever s/c you go with. I personally love the Vortech because you can adapt it to a T-Trim for incredible boost. But everything comes down to money and what your comfortable to spend. There are s/c's out there for under 2K and then there's the T-Trim system I'm talking about that will set you back about 9K. If your new to drag building, then I would suggest you start out with a 'intro' s/c that's putting out about 6 lbs of boost. They are afforable and your car can easily handle it without any other engine work.

Chevykiller, that is one B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L and awsome looking SC. I'm contemplating selling my motorcylce to buy the Saleen SC. I like the idea of the extra 100hp with 4 lbs of boost. Nonetheless, did you have any issues with the tune and did you go with the xcal.

THe Vortech has a hiss not a whine. High boost comes from a simple pully swap. Tha Saleen is 2.3L and can handle over 20psi. The Saleen already has an intercooler. With the twin screw you will hit your peak power and torque long before the centrifuge. I have spent less then $9K and I put out more power then the Vortech. The Saleen S/C is more efficient then the Vortech. Martin if you go with the Saleen then you need to have an SCT, I have only heard of one place using the Predator and they have not done very many Saleen's.

GJP05, that's good info. It seems to me that Saleen is the way to go. Not to mention that I don't have to get rid of my curent mods or buy a seperate programmer (cons).

I think I'll sell my motorcycly after Christmas and get the Saleen SC.

Here are some videos just for the sound of the Saleen S/C.

1. Here it is at idle. To you guys that already have the S/C, does yours make the same kind of noise?

2. Both of these are just to hear the exhaust.

I know the videos sounds kinda weak, my son just didn't know what I wanted him to do. So enjoy what's there.

I well get better videos later.
