Where did you get power for your Radar Detector??
I am purchasing a Beltronics RX65 and I am wondering where any of you have run the power source from. Can you take it from the light above the mirror? Also, how high did you mount it?

Everything that needs power for me gets driven from the power socket in the arm-rest... I installed a relay to turn off power when ignition turned off (powered from the same source as the radio)
THEN all power connectors go beneath the central console

So I still havnt done it yet with the rx65. Can I run the wire up to the light on the roof or do they stay on even when the car is off. Where can I run the detector wire to, in order to have a clean install.

V1 has excellent laser detection, but, lacks in features. All of the independent radar detector sites rate the Bel RX65 and the Escort 8500 X50 as comprable to the V1, and at around 140$ less than the V1 depending on where you purchase a much better value.

Valentine and their V1 seem locked in a time warp. Even the owner manual reflects 1980s thinking, replete with wildly outdated statements such as “X-band [is] most common for moving and stationary [radar].†Huh? 47 of the 50 state highway patrols abandoned it years ago and the remaining three are dumping theirs as quickly as they wear out.
With an increasingly wide gap in the V1’s level of sophistication compared to modern designs--not to mention a minimalist feature set, quirky ergonomics, an exceptionally chatty nature and stiff price tag--the competition has clearly passed it by. Small wonder that Valentine’s market share continues to shrink, down to an estimated 0.6 percent and falling. Time for a new model, guys.

Same procedure and I believe the kit will work with the Bel.

I have the Escort/passport 8500, mounted on top of windshield , ran hard wire on top of windshield, down drivers side(you could run it down the passenger side A pillar as well) under dash to fuse panel, fuse position #2 is unused so i used a 5 amp fuse, stripped end of dectector power wire, and inserted in this fuse slot. the dectector goes on and off with key. works for me! i use the power outlet on the dash for my GPS and satellite radio.

The V1 is the way to go IMO. Once you have the arrows, you will understand. Yes, its chatty, but after a while you know when to listen to it and when to ignore it. (now if i could only figure that out with my wife...).
