What year do the new Mustangs favor?
I was wondering everyone's opinion to what year (in the 60s) the new 2005/2006 Mustangs resemble the most? And give your reasons why you chose the year you did..........

I think Ford was very smart in how the styled the new 05-06 Mustang. It's actually took it style from a variety of Mustang years. Here's my run down (btw, just my opinion). The rear side windows are circa '66 Shelby, the fastback roof line reminds me of the 67-68 fastbacks (not as short as the 65-66, but not as long as the 69-70), the rear tail-lights are styled similar to the 69-70 and the headlight and GT grille treatment are definitely 1969. I think that's why so many people are able to customize the car and come up with so many different looks.

to have to pick 1 year, I said 69 due to the unmistakable frontend, but the coolest thing to me about the new body, is it looks like all, yet none of its predecessors...from any angle, from blocks away- everyone knows its a Mustang.
the only thing I would personally like to change is shown here:

kinda even more 69-ish...
Ford styling guys ought to be incredibly proud of the job they did on this car- I sure hope the other 'conventional thinking- make it look like a honda' stylists realize this aint no flash in the pan- it looks like it SHOULD. Maybe, just maybe the 500 or crown vic would sell like hotcakes if one had a 70 torino fastback skin on it, with hidden 4 door lines(remember the R/T concept a few years ago- it looked WAY better than the 'charger'...)
round roof= not for me. I always said I would never buy another new car due to the cost, complexity, depreciation, all for a bland looking car...then the new Mustang showed up...still costs quite a bit, but not out of line, complexity now adds both power and mileage, but mostly it is b-e-a-u-tiful looking. depreciation balanced out in my mind first time I saw one.
Long live the fastback!
