depends on which spoiler you buy. some are designed to fit the original holes, others come with delete kits (ie CDC) that wouldn't be needed, and others are designed to simply tape over the existing holes (if they are there) (ie 3d Carbon). I personally am a fan of the 3d Carbon model:

Hmm, so i have to determine which one i like first, hmm, that could be a challenge itself.

Thanks a lot for the input!

If you havent already, I would recommend checking both options on a car on a lot. I like the car either way, put liked spoiler delete look better. And after some time will add a ducktail. You cant go wrong with these cars, Ive seen soo many mods and liked 99% of them. But we cant have them all

In awnser to the thread topic, because people don't like the spoiler.

But seriously, you can actualey save money with it this way. I didn't order mine, if I had I would have got the spoiler, but they had one near by that was exactley what I want, sans the spioiler. So i got that one and I'll just buy a spoiler seperate. Here's the funny part, getting the spoiler from a junk yard or ebay, is actualy cheaper then the factory option.
I guess that's only on the V6 cars dude. The spoiler comes standard with the GT....bou can choose the spoiler delete for the GT and it does not change anything on the price. The car just does not come with a spoiler. It's still the exact same price though.

I can't believe noone answered with the real reason Ford offered the spoiler delete. It's too bad because some one at Ford remembered that even the fastback 65, 66, 67, 68 didn't have a spoiler so in the plan for a retro design they were smart enough to accomodate the folks who realize this and have no interest in a spoiler. ...especially in today's era where nearly every Escort, Civic, Hyundai, GrandAm, etc khave spoilers. The spoiler is like the vinyl top. It just weighs you down, slows you down with its unnecessary drag. Try washing and waxing around this "ornament". You'll see more and more guys out there with GT's like mine w/o the spoiler and have no intention of adding a ducktail. Anyway the fun of it is you do what you like with your GT; it's part of your personality. Thank you Ford for making this option available; lots of folks know what I'm talking about from the 60's and 70's when "delete options" were commonplace. Are we forgetting that this car has round headlights; the first real modern technology "retro muscle"?

06 GT, 5-speed, black on leather parchment, spoiler delete; Eibach ProKit

It's not COMPLETELY useless. Once you hit about 160 mph the downforce becomes measurable...

The spoiler on my '89 5.0 stayed on at 130 or so. But the hood on my '85 GT popped up at 30 mph (of course that was operator error; it wasn't latched). Cost me $1700 to fix in 1988 or '89...probably $25K in todays $$...lol
