Yeah, you wouldn't want to remove the 3rd light. It's required in most states (MA for one) so resale could be an issue. Besides Ford did a nice job with the light design and it might save you from getting rear-ended.

No decklid badge or lock on my GT. 06 black on parchment leather, 5speed, spoiler delete. Eibach ProKit, BMR panhard.

The 3rd brake light just pops-off from the inside of the trunk. If you look at it, it's very easy to see where & how it's held in by plastic spring clips, built into the brake housing. Takes all of about 10 seconds to do. I've had mine out twice already.
