Do Yall Beat the Crap out of your GT's??

RE: Do Yall Beat the Crap out of your GT's??
I tend to drive my cars fast, but flawlessly. What I mean by that is I pay particular attention to not grinding synchros, and using the clutch properly and efficiently. -No extra clutch use except when necessary. You can still have a lot of fun without tearing up your car's powertrain life. I never slam gears or powershift, unless I'm at the track. Never need to.

For me it really depends on my mood and location. I do drive on a couple back country roads on my way to and from work that if there is no one around I will open her up from time to time. The second half of my commute is a pretty winding road, which is great when I can make the trip in daylight, but this time of year I take it a little easier since it is a Really dark area and the lanes are narrow. Every now and then I want to use it like a Mustang GT should, but overall I drive it pretty normal.

I think a lot of it comes down to what you're doing. Accelerating quickly and cornering fast aren't going to hurt your car. As long as you're being safe about it then I say go for it! Have some fun. Smokey burn outs and the like can be hard on the rear end, though, so you might want to keep that to a minimum. Personally, after I've been running hard for a while I like to drive calm for a few minutes before I park the car, to let everything cool down a bit. That's just me, though. I don't have any hard data to say that it helps at all.

I wouldn't say I abuse it, but I drive it pretty hard. This car is meant to be pushed a little. If I was going to drive it around like grandma's Oldsmobile, the what the hell did I buy it for, right? I love the car and I try to take good care of it, but I bought that car to satisfy a lust for the smell of burning rubber and the feeling of acceleration. As "transportation" my Maxima was perfectly adequate.
