Battery run down
 

Hi. I'm new to the world of Mustangs. Hubby got one and now I am totally in love with it.
My question is, after reading the manual cover to cover, does the mustang have anything that prevents the battery from going dead if you leave your lights on? With all the other technological features on it and the fact that you have to turn them on and off manually, I was wondering how often I might drain the battery! lol:)

When you leave your lights on the car you will have an alarm jingle.

I don't know about the new models but I have a 94 GT and it does have a feature that cuts the power after a certain amount of time to protect battery drain. I have never left the headlights on but I know for the interior, trunk and hoodlight....they will all be disconnected after a period of time and when you turn the ignition key on they will turn back on. As far as I know this isn't mentioned in the owners manual as I have read mine cover to cover although it was a long time ago.

Wow - you're hubby is going to let you drive it after admitting that you will leave the lights on?! ;) Impressed to see that you take the time to read manuals :)

Wish I could help, but my car only has 1400 miles so I havn't had a chance to experience this. Plus its hibernating for the winter [X(]

Thanks guys for trying to help. I don't think I'll forget to turn the lights off, I just thought that all the newer cars had the automatic turn on/off feature and was surprised that the mustang is still manual. My Pontiac Grand Am has the sensor that turns the lights on and that is what I am used to. Don't worry, I will treat hubby's mustang with kid gloves.

I have a GT and I am very dissapointed with the way the headlights work on this vehicle. No, there is no mechanism to turn the lights off if left on. My Eddie Bauer Expedition came with standard Driving lights. The lights go on automatically when the car is started, and shut themselves off a few minutes after you exit the vehicle and all the doors are closed. I was really dissapointed to see that the mustang did not offer this. My last 5 cars had these features.
