Default What does everybody do if you have a 93 tune and no 93?

Was just wondering, I'm headed for a road trip this spring and if I happen to encounter a situation where I can not get 93 octane, would adding octane booster to 91 octane suffice?

Thanks!!!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Don't get on it hard. Ever. Also, what tuner you use? I know that, with my diablo, I can switch to a 87 Octane tune on the fly...

Well, I mean... You have to reprogram it... But I say it's on the fly as switching between aftermarket tunes (as opposed to switching from Diablo tune to Stock or vise versa) takes around 45seconds for me... Can be done while filling gas =p

+1 - your diablo will hold multiple tunes and you SHOULD set it with such. I do them same and can switch my tune in the time it takes to get gas. If you don't have immediate access to add a program you could also take 5 gallons of VP in your trunk with you and when you fill up your car with 91, add 2 1/2 gallons and it will keep you around 93. This will allow you to fill up your car twice on your trip.

And I definitely agree about the gas station fuel booster crap - waste of money.

You really don't want to take any chances with lower octane fuel than your tune is intended for. These engines HATE detonation and even the slightest ping can damage your engine.

Either change the tune to something a little more conservative or carry a can of 104+ octane boost with you in case of emergency the stuff isn't what I would consider "safe" anyway, so you may as well carry your tuner and set the tune down a little lower.

Thanks everybody, it seems the best and really safest option is to just switch the tune if necessary. I mean it can be done at the gas station before you fill up so seems to be the best way to go, or for any road trips just program the 87 tune and be happy with it...hehe

later

thanks again
