Default 06 18" Polished rims

I have an 06 GT with the optional 18" polished rims. They don't feel perfectly balanced from the factory, and I have a very slight vibration above 60mph. The dealer said they are very hard to balance, and this may be as good as it gets. Anyone else have a similar problem? I'm a little aprehensive about letting a tire shop mess with them, and I don't want the ugly weights clamped to the outer rim.

Total BS! They should be able to balance those tires on those rims as good as any tire shop.

If you do go to a tire shop, you can specify that the weights be placed on the inside of the rim.

My $0.02 worth...

Dealers who can't even balance tires are very hard for me to purchase from.

Don't let them lie to you. They can be balanced better and have the weights on the inside. If it is a good tire shop, they will make sure that they do not scratch your rims. I was out back with them while they were putting the tires on my DD bullitts.

just got rid of an explorer with 18" rims and stick on-inside wheel weights. It took me about 11/2 years to find someone to finally balance the rims properly so >50mph didnt have the steering wheel vibrating like crazy. one dealer said they did not have the proper equipment to balance wheels +18". It was more than their machine could handle properly. I asked what the heck they did with Harley F150's and their 20" rims and they actually sent the trucks out to get balanced!!! by a local shop. I went to the local shop and they did fine job.

yeah i would agree thats bulllll, anyways you dont wanna go to a dealer to have your wheels balanced, chance are they pawn that job of balancing your wheels off to some highschool kid(no offense) that just needed a part time job, I used to work at a dealership before i joined so I know this, anyway I had my 20's taken to a local wheel shop that does customizes in wheels, and had them balance.

If they could not balance the rim(s) I would have them replace it with one that they could.

My 18's were fine, and haven seen any other complaints.

Ask them to cover the price for a local store to do them then. Try a Goodyear

We have a machine that checks road force variations also, will let you know if there is a wheel or tire issue. And has a nice setup to hide the wheel weights behind the spokes.
Me balancing my 17"s mounted with snow tires.
