Tuner question
 

This might be common knowledge but i just thought of it...

If you disconnect the battery, i know that will reset error codes BUT does disconnecting the battery also require you to reflash your tune or is the tune thats in the ecm there to stay unless rewritten at another tune?

Like i said might be a dumb question and I think I just answered to myself, but i'll wait for replys

You can disconnect the battery and not lose your tune...whether the tune is the factory one or a custom one, it's safe. In this regard, a custom tune isn't any different than a factory tune.

ok, another silly question from someone who has not tuned a car via one of the new computer tuners...

1. If I add a CAI kit and it needs to be tuned, do I have to take the car to someone to tune it, or does the kit come with a 'pretune' set for a generic V6. I have heard about getting '3 tunes' etc... but is that a generic tune or for the CAI or gas or what?...

2. I have heard about the tuner capturing data, and logging, is this what you do and email someone to get it tuned?

If you get the CAI w/a tuner then it's plug and play.

I don't think this will be ever be the case...lots of folks have reported dead batteries in their new 'stangs---and nobody has had to get their computers reflashed.

It would be silly for a car manuf. to make a car that loses its computer's programming from a dead battery...think about it...

The code is written on Flash Memory. It's alot like computer RAM except that it retains memory without a power source for an extremely long time (Read: Months).
