Default Suspension on 18" equipped GTs

After much googling I can not find out what "complemented by unique suspension tuning" means in reference to 2006 GTs with optional 18" wheels. Does anyone have any info on this?

Today was my first full day with the car and I couldn't help wondering if the rough ride was normal or not. Seems like I feel every little bump or crack in the road. I am just wondering if others have the same experiences in their '06 with optional 18" wheels.

they tuned the suspension to make the ride more enjoyable on 18" wheels, but from what it sounds like they wern't too successful...hahah. do a search I know there was a couple threads about this before.

IMO the whole "fine tuned suspension" comment is just a way for ford to sell more cars with the optional 18's. Until I am told exactly what parts they used that were diffrent, I am calling BS on the diffrence

The strut dampening is different. Softer for an 18" due to less sidewall flex. All else is the same.

Thanks for the info. I knew there probably wasn't much different if anything. I am going from a 99 Monte Carlo to this 06 GT so I will get used to the stiffer suspension. It sure is great to have a car that is actually fun to drive again. I haven't smiled so much driving a car since I was in high school and driving a 442
