Default New stripes on GT!!

Here are a couple pics of hmontesjr's GT just after gettting the stripes put on (my car is next to his, just having received the GT take offs)

He had the charcoal/black with a kind of blue tint to it, stripes put on at Team Ford in Houston... Car looks AWSOME, especially with the rims and all... great package, and he is still working on it... I will let him post the specs on his GT, I am just posting a few pics to let everyone get a quick view , till he gets her all cleaned up and some pics taken

Enjoy!

About how much does it cost to paint stripes? What is the width of the stripe and gap between the stripes?

I will have to measure them...

I paid $512 for the bumper to bumper stipes, but I would talk with Danny (body shop manager) or Carlos at the Team Ford Body shop to verify, and if you want anything extra done like springs, exhaust, etc... they will work with you to give you a good price. several others have had theirs done there for the same, and are very happy, as am I. They have had several people see mine sitting on the lot after having something done, and sign up to get theirs done, someone even signed up to get their GT done when it came in from an order, so when he picked it up it would have the stripes when he picked it up! he he

Hopefully Hector will post better pics of his GT soon... you can't see the slight blue hue in the black from my camera phone...

Well the price will vary a lot if you are burying the stripes in clearcoat so that you cannot feel the edge. To do this right the front facia, hood and fender tops, roof, decklid, rear qtr tops and rear bumper all need to be sanded and recleared. Now reclearing means more sanding of the new clear with 1500 and then 2000, then buffing. The finish should be better than factory but since they would stop at the edges where light changes it should look terrific. This treatment when done right is worth $2000.

That looks great! We are going to have to get all of us together for a picture one day next week sometime. (After Danny installs my hood pins!)

Default RE: New stripes on GT!!

i'm having my 06 GT striped this week! i've talked with a fair amount of people on the subject. i really wanted to have the the panels with the stripes clearcoated, but was talked out of it by the body shop and by a guy that had it done.

Here's the issue, once you clear the panels, they will be better than the factory panels. in other words the shine won't match. also you run the risk of screwing up the panel. ie fisheye, runs, dirt, etc. i know good quality painters wouldn't let that happen but you never know......

my thought is after they paint the stripes and i just can't stand the edge, i'll clear the panels later.

would love to hear from anybody who has gone through this................

as a side note, i'm having a chin spoiler, 1/4 window louvers, and duck bill spoiler added as well as the stripes.

You assume correct................Tungsten metallic gray. however, i'm not actually going for the "Eleanor" look. i'm trying to put mods on w/o going overboard. it aint easy...there is so much cool s**t for mustangs. i plan on showing the GT with my 67 stang.
