Default need advice on chrome valve covers

I'm going to replace factory valve covers with nice chrome, has anyone done this on 2005/6
GT 4.6 V8. it appears to be a simple project and doesnt look like anything else has to be
removed to get the job done. would like any hints from someone who may have done this.
Also, what is the best gasket to use.. Tinpony ..rookie mechanic

Quite a few people have had theirs powder coated ( myself included ) and it is no big deal at all to remove and reinstall the covers. And you can easily reuse the factory rubber cam cover gasket. Now...having said that. I have no idea of the manufacturer, brand, or quality of the replacement covers you are intending on putting on your car. So I truly do not know if it will use the same gasket or have the same fit.

Thanks Hawgman, I appreciate your time. I was really trying to find out if the covers
come straight off without having to move/remove other parts, such as the battery
holder, it looks like the will be a little tight to get the cover out. The covers I had my
eye on are at a local speed shop, I dont know the brand, but powder coating is also
something I would definitely consider. what was the cost? did you have it done local
or did you have to ship. Is it easy to keep clean? A matching color would look nice.
Thanks again in advance

The covers come off without having to remove anything else. Probably an hour job total to R&R both sides.

As for the powder coating, there is a thread here that you should take a look at. Hatchman started this project back last summer and has received a great response from it. Cost is $65 for the pair, and he has a core set. So there is no down time. You get on the list, and when your time comes up send him the cash, he sends you the covers and you return your original covers to him for exchange. The thread is over 20 pages long and there are plenty of pictures ( mine included ) of just about any color you could think of to do the covers in. I went with the "chrome aluminum". But alot of other people are colormatching their vehicle.

Blue Oval lists them on fleabay pretty frequently. Then again, as expensive as they are ( $350ish ) they don't really need to sell too many of them each month [:@]
