How to remove the rear view mirror?
Ok, I'm having a huge problem with the flimsy rear view mirror constantly vibrating, I know people have swapped out normal rear views for the upgraded compas mirrors so this should be not be an uncommon thing.
I'm going to fill the mirror with vibration deadening foam and Dynamat it, I just can't figure out how to take it off, how do I go about that?

Its not stuck on with glue, you have to use a small screwdriver to insert in the space on the bottom and pry and the mirror will fall off.....the fastener will remain on so you can easily remount

It's very difficult to remove the mirror. There are stories of people breaking the windshield trying to get the mirror off it's glass mount. Search for "homelink" or anything to do with mirrors.
When I installed my Homelink mirror, I assumed the dealer would have the proper tool. After installation I found a small shard of glass, indicating that they were using the same method everyone else was using to remove it....a screwdriver.
If you have a small mirror, use it to get a look underneath the mount, right inside the hole. There's no way to get a look in there unless you have a mirror, since you wont be able to get your face/head close enough. Once you see it for yourself, you'll see how the mirror is clipped in.
Getting it out, even after you've seen the mounting method, is still difficult.
The Ford service manual wont help either, since it only directs you to use the proper tool, and there's no clear image of the way it's held in place.

Are you familiar with humour?
Especially since all you need is a small screw driver... Unless there are 2 differents set up on those cars.
Here's a pic of my Stang with the base and the shiny screw. Don't pay attention to the base being fatter, cause I have a GM (98 Sub.) compass/temp mirror.
All I did was unscrew my OEM and screw this one on. The trick was the wiring but that's another story.
Hope it helps.
