RE: Has anyone self-installed the compass/dimming mirror?
I have the compass/temp thermo mirror too.. and had a shop install it for me throught the dealership when I ordered the car.
Mine is a convertible and so I would assume the answer is "Yes", you can install/hide the wires on a vert.

As an option from Ford accessories, I think its around $495 for the mirror, temp, compass, auto dim, and homelink. I must say that $200 extra is a bit much for an install. I could be wrong. Clarification please!! [>:]

My dealership installed mine for the cost of the mirror.
They shared with me later, that the dealership actually gets the mirror for LESS then the stated price - charging me the retail covered their cost of installation.
I want to say it was around $450.

Summit racing sells a auto mirror made by a company named **** with all the bells and whistles for 229.00.
Hey Bee, is that a pony grill or a custom one on your stang? It sure looks good on your car.

RE: Has anyone self-installed the compass/dimming mirror?
Just bought a replacement mirror with Auto-dimming, Compass, and Temp. Need to figure out how to SAFELY remove the original '05 mirror. Any ideas?
I looked all over the bracket and can't see a set screw? I just don't want to break the windshield by prying anywhere I shouldn't of course. There is a wavy-looking opening at the top of the bracket but I can't feel a screw there? I tried with small jewler's screw drivers and a torx bit. There seems to be a middle panel on the bracket. I wonder if the screw is under this panel? Just don't want to hurt my "baby".
