ORIGINAL: LimeStang05

I decided with 19,900 hard miles on it, to trade in the ole green stang and got an 06. I got an Torch Red 06 GT Premium, Interior upgrade (dark charcoal leather) , Active Anti-theft, Optional 18" polished Bullits.

Sticker on the 06 was $28,670. I got it for the X-plan price of $26,611.

Then came the trade. I paid $23,500 for my Legend Lime GT deluxe. I put 19,900 miles on it in 12 months and and they gave me $21,800 for it!

I drove the car for a year and only lost $1700 on it! AMAZING!

Guess I'll have to change my name on here so people dont ask why my name is Limestang and I got a red car LOL
Why did you trade it in, you basically got the same car?

When I bought the Limestang, It was the only GT in the state (almost). I didnt want to wait to order a GT. The only options it had were leather wrapped wheel and shifter ****.
The red one is pretty loaded.....I HAD to have leather seats!

I kept the Zex, and the Cold air intake and XCal2. I lost the hoodscoop($79), the mirror covers($79) and the Flowmasters($200).

I let the 19000 mile go with the car too! That in itself was worth the $1700 to me.....

I plan doing something different with the paint. Maybe a "Foose" style black two tone. We'll just have to see....

LimeStang,
They are holding their value. I had a similar deal. I traded in my 05 Mineral Grey Premium GT that I paid $25,995 for, and with 18,000 hard miles, got $24,000 for it even after I stripped it back to stock. They put it on the lot for $27,995, and ended up selling it for more than I paid for it!

My dealer got ONE 05 gt last spring, I was down to check it out...I heard the guy that ordered it fell thru somehow and a salesguy ended up buying it- he had it 3 months and traded it on a audi or something and MADE 5k on the deal... but you had yours for a whole year for very cheep- I still think you got the 'record' for a GT deal !

congrats

Mine was a surprise birthday present and I believe after all the warrantys she bought she paid about the same, so don't fret. I like those blacked out headlamps. How do they work at night though?

Must still be people wanting the 05 Mustangs being its the first year of this style? Thus the good trade in prices? Could be too the dealers are having a hard time moving the 06s from the looks of the dealership lots around here.

if you bought them back in 05 there were huge mark ups on all of them

the price of my first pony (which was a basic v6, the only upgrades were the auto tranny and side air bags) was 28K!! and the gt verts were going for almost 50K

i eventually traded in that one when the 06 tungsten came out

That makes sense, good luck with the new one!
