SCT Question on rev limiter

SCT Question on rev limiter
I have SCT Xcal II tune and I noticed it will default to 6800 rpm before the rev limiter is set to kick in. I was wondering what others are setting the rev limiter at I thought stock was 6200 rpm?? so I was surprised to see it defaulted at 6800. I have also read where some guys set them in the 7000 rpm range. So what is the true safe red line?

RE: SCT Question on rev limiter
The true 'safe redline' is all depending on what you're running in your car. Unless you have a centrifugal blower, there is no reason for your to be shifting above 6500 rpm on these cars IMO. I think a 6500-6800 rpm rev limiter setting is perfect for most applications. Mine is set for 7500 rpm and I shift at 6800 but it's for a lot of different reasons that I don't think apply to you. RPM is one of the main reasons what blows engines and the rev limiter is there for a reason. it should only be adjusted from factory settings (6200 rpm) if it is required for your set-up. i.e. - your making your power in higher rpm range. A simple dyno will tell you where your power range is and I'll bet yours is between 5800-6200 RPM.
